Job Duties

Job Purpose

Monsour Counseling and Psychological Services (MCAPS) is seeking two full-time (40 hours/week) post-doctoral therapists for the 2017-18 academic year. We are looking for competent clinicians who would like to join a dynamic staff who are passionate about the services they provide to students.

The full-time post-doctoral experience is structured such that it meets all requirements for the 1500 hours of post-doctoral Supervised Professional Experience (SPE) necessary for licensure in California. Note that it is the post-doctoral candidate’s responsibility to determine whether this placement will meet the requirements for licensure in other states, as some states require more than 1500 hours of SPE and may have additional regulations regarding these hours.

Essential Functions

Provide individual, couple, and group counseling (approximately 60% of time)
Conduct crisis intervention
Conduct psycho-educational outreach programs
Assist students in their personal and educational goals
Provide training/consultation with faculty and staff of the Colleges
Other duties as assigned


Required Education Summary

Completion (by August 07, 2017) of a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Counseling or Clinical Psychology

Work Schedule

The regular hours for this full time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday. Holiday, weekend and evening work hours may be required. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the organization or business unit.

This is a 9.5-month position lasting in duration through the academic year.

Four weeks of leave time is scheduled over winter break. Post-doctoral staff may be required to work on some holidays (in particular, please note that MCAPS is open on Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, MLK, and Presidents Day). Reimbursement for professional liability insurance is available. Reimbursement and release time for professional development may be available, upon approval.
